Student Assistance Program (SAP)
SAP is designed to assist in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues which pose a barrier to a student’s success. The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program is to help students overcome these barriers so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school.
The East Lycoming School District operates SAP teams at the elementary and secondary level to assist students and their families. Each SAP team consists of teachers, school health professionals, school counselors, principals, and outside agency personal who support children and adolescents. Team members must complete specialized training to become a member of the team and ongoing training annually.
Referrals to the SAP team can be made by any member of the school staff, students themselves, or from families.
For more information on the SAP team at your student’s school, please contact their school counselor or principal.
